Creating a Meaningful WHY

Welcome back to BETTER, the email series that provides tools, strategies, and knowledge to help you progress toward your goals.

This week, we provide a few powerful tools to keep you consistent and motivated in the New Year.

Today's topic is creating a meaningful "why."

Read on:

  1. Set aside Time: Dedicate time in a distraction-free environment to contemplate your health and fitness aspirations. This could be early morning or during a quiet moment in the evening after you have put the kids to bed.

  2. Journal Your Thoughts: Write down all factors driving your health and fitness goals. Consider how being healthy and fit impacts your personal energy, your strength and stamina, and your overall well-being.

  3. Categorize Your Motivators: Divide these factors into emotional, physical, and relational benefits. This will help you see the comprehensive benefits of your fitness journey.

  4. Prioritize Key Motivators: From your list, select the top three reasons that resonate the most. Make these specific and actionable.

  5. Visualize Your Success: Spend a few minutes daily visualizing your success. Imagine the tangible benefits, like more energy or feeling stronger in your body.

  6. Use Affirmations: Reinforce your vision with daily affirmations related to your goals. These should support the mental image of your success. Go a step further by adding a few alarms on your phone to go off throughout the day with your affirmation in the "Label" line.

  7. Discuss Your Goals: Share your motivations with friends and family. Talking about your goals can increase accountability and encourage you to persist.

Review and Adjust: Regularly assess your progress and adjust your strategies. This keeps your approach flexible and responsive to your needs.
