Exercise Strategies for Fat Loss

Welcome back to BETTER, the email series that provides tools, strategies, and knowledge to help you progress toward a healthier and fitter future.

This week, we are providing strategies to help your fat-loss efforts.

Today's installment covers exercise strategies to enhance fat loss:

Exercise is great but not as powerful as nutrition for fat loss. The benefits of regular exercise are amazing. Name virtually any health and fitness angle, and regular exercise will improve it. However, you would leave a lot of potential improvement on the table if your only fat-loss strategy was exercise. For example, expending 400 calories through exercise is difficult and can take up to an hour to achieve. Consuming 400 calories can be wildly easy and achieved in less than a minute with the right foods. We can really move the needle in our fat loss efforts by combining regular exercise with better nutrition choices. Supercharge your progress by adding improvements in stress management and sleep quality.

Muscle mass burns more calories. The more muscle mass you have, the more calories you require a day to maintain it. Thus, strength training to build more muscle is a great long-term strategy for managing your weight and losing body fat.

When focusing on fat loss, simply moving more is a great strategy. Sure, intense gym sessions are awesome and burn a lot calories, but any movement throughout the day is an absolute win. Activities like playing with your kids, working in the yard, cleaning your house, taking a walk to the mailbox, and completing a quick set of push-ups or squats will move you closer to your body fat loss goals.

Put these ideas into action. Challenge yourself to get moving early and often throughout the day. Prioritize strength training when you can get to the gym, and make better nutrition choices throughout the week. Remember, small changes add up to significant results when you stay consistent and give them enough time to work their magic.

We'll return tomorrow to dive deeper into nutrition strategies to enhance your body fat efforts!
